The IRON OX, we believe, is simply the best way of dealing with iron that is currently available. Based on a unique patent-protected process the IRON OX will remove iron effectively and economically without the need for expensive, messy, and dangerous chemicals, or troublesome pumps and other parts.
The IRON OX works by passing added oxygen to the incoming water by passing it through a bubble of compressed air. The water is then passed through a Birm filter bed. Birm acts as a catalyst in the reaction between iron and oxygen which causes the iron to precipitate as a solid. The Birm, acting as a physical filter, then catches the iron.
As more water passes through the IRON OX the oxygen in the unit is used up, and the Birm gets loaded with iron. The regeneration process then begins to replenish the supply of oxygen and to backwash the iron trapped in the media bed.
